Other things I do
Blog posts
A previous version of my website had a blog; there were never very many posts, but I've collected a couple of the ones I feel are worth preserving here.
Scottish Country Dancing
Since around 2010 I've done Scottish country dancing, which is a form of social dancing similar to contra dancing, English country dancing, or square dancing. I now teach Scottish country dancing for the Kingston branch of the RSCDS, and I've taught a class for students at Queen's University.
Here's a video that includes a brief cameo of me dancing: Maggie and Caitlin at Pinewoods Scottish Sessions in 2014
.WisCon
For the last 10 years I've been involved in organizing WisCon, the world's leading feminist science fiction and fantasy convention, held in Madison, Wisconsin. I have also served on the board of SF3, WisCon's parent nonprofit. If you're interested in discussing speculative fiction with a feminist/social-justice perspective, WisCon is a great place to do that. There is also an interdisciplinary academic track, for those whose research addresses topics of fandom or speculative fiction.
Knitting
I knit! If you see me at a conference I will probably have knitting in my hands. I have a Ravelry profile, and I'd be happy to share my ID with you if we meet in person.
